Free museum days in Europe: when entry costs nothing
19 of the 90 European museums and sites we've checked let everyone in free on certain days. Here's when, taken from each official website, with every free date for the next twelve months. Updated October 2026.

Free days are the busiest of the month: arrive early, and book a slot where one is needed.

Children, young Europeans and disabled visitors often go free all year. Here's each attraction's rule.

| Linderhof Palace Ettal, Germany | Under 18s, and school students over 18 with a student card. Under 14s must be with an adult. The other park buildings (Moroccan House, Hunding's Hut, Gurnemanz Hermitage) need no ticket; the Moorish Kiosk is under scaffolding until 2028. |
| Museum Island, Berlin Berlin, Germany | Under 18s (with a free ticket from the counter or online), and a companion required by a severely disabled visitor's pass. |

| Florence Cathedral and Brunelleschi's Dome Florence, Italy | The Cathedral itself is free to enter, with no ticket. The passes are free for children under 7, and for disabled visitors (and possibly a carer) on checking their documents. |

| St Mark's Basilica Venice, Italy | Children under 11, disabled visitors and a companion, and residents of Venice and the diocese's other towns (not for the Bell Tower). Half price for ages 10 to 18, students up to 26 and over 65s. |
| The Last Supper (Cenacolo Vinciano) Milan, Italy | Under 18s, though they still need a booked ticket. Other free and reduced entry follows Italy's state museum rules. |

| Valley of the Temples Agrigento, Italy | Everyone on the first Sunday of the month (in summer until 7pm; evening entry is paid). Other free entry follows the park's admission rules. |
| Anne Frank House Amsterdam, Netherlands | No one goes completely free: every visitor, children included, needs a ticket with a €1 booking fee. Student cards and the I amsterdam City Card give no discount. |

| Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial Oświęcim, Poland | Entry to both Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau is free. A fee is charged only for a guided tour with one of the Memorial's educators (about 3½ hours, with a headset and the shuttle between the two sites); its price is shown when booking. Concessions on guided tours for pupils and students up to 26, over 75s and disabled visitors. |
| Wawel Royal Castle Kraków, Poland | On Mondays (10am to 4pm) some exhibitions are free, with a limited number of free tickets; in October and December these are the Castle's 2nd floor and the Crown Treasury. | Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba Córdoba, Spain | Children under 10, people born or living in the diocese of Córdoba, and disabled visitors (over 64%) with one companion. Monday to Saturday, entry is free from 8:30 to 9:30am (no groups). |
