Questions
How do I choose which World Heritage sites to visit?
Start with where you'll be and what you enjoy most: museums, castles, ancient ruins, views or nature. Then set a budget for the main adult ticket and say who's going. This page asks those questions and suggests three places that fit: the best match, the best value and a wildcard, with what the tickets cost for everyone.
How much does it cost to visit a World Heritage site?
It varies a lot. Of the 459 attractions whose prices we've checked, 10 are free to enter, and the middle price for the main adult ticket is about €17 (about US$19 · £14). Many places are cheaper for children and on free days.
Which famous places are free to visit?
Free entry for everyone at the British Museum, the Reichstag Dome, Great Smoky Mountains National Park and Independence Hall, among others. Use “Free entry only” on the budget question to see every free place that fits your trip.
Do children go free?
At 43 of the places we've checked, children get in free on the main ticket; many others charge a reduced price. Each price page lists the child price where the official site gives one, and who else goes free.
Where do the prices come from?
Each price is read by hand from the attraction's own official website, never a reseller, and each page says when it was checked. Prices change, so confirm on the official site before you book.
